Europe must convince Russia that Ukraine won’t join NATO — French presidential candidate

Nicolas Dupont-Aignan emphasized that the solution to the conflict should be long term rather than a temporary ceasefire

MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. European countries must assure Moscow that Ukraine will not join NATO and that there will be no NATO forces on its territory, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, a candidate in the 2027 French presidential election and leader of the Debout la France (Rise Up France) party, said during a Vesti broadcast.

He emphasized that the solution to the conflict must be long term rather than a temporary ceasefire. "That is precisely why it is very important for the Americans and Europeans to clearly state to Russia: NATO will never be in Ukraine. I believe European countries must assure Russia that Ukraine will not join NATO," Dupont-Aignan said, noting that Ukraine should not join the EU either.

The politician also pointed out that Vladimir Zelensky does not want peace. "But he is not the only one. He is being pushed toward war by Ms. [European Commission President Ursula] von der Leyen, the EU’s military-industrial lobby, as well as German, UK, and French leaders," he added.

Speaking about France’s continued financial support for Ukraine, Dupont-Aignan noted: "This is madness, suicide - after all, we’re talking about French taxpayers’ money. France has already allocated 25 billion euros to Mr. Zelensky, while we don’t have enough money for our hospitals, our schools and universities, or to lower fuel prices.".
