MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. Russia, unlike the Kiev regime, has never posed any threat to nuclear facilities in Ukraine, Russian Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said at a briefing.
"Unlike Ukraine, Russia has never carried out any attacks on nuclear facilities in Ukraine. There are no such examples," he said, commenting on another "shameful resolution" adopted at the recent session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference calling on Russia to cease all actions at and against Ukrainian nuclear facilities.
The diplomat pointed out that the authors of the resolution, which Canada has submitted for consideration virtually unchanged for the fourth year in a row, are unable even to explain what they mean by demanding that Russia "cease actions at nuclear facilities." "Do you want us to stop supplying electricity and water and providing maintenance? There is silence in response. People do not take responsibility for what they put on paper and propose that a reputable organization adopt as a political document. This is evidence of degradation," he said.
"The impression is being created that all threats to nuclear safety come from Russia, but in fact, if you read the reports and regular information updates by the IAEA director general on nuclear safety in Ukraine, it becomes clear that the four Ukrainian nuclear power plants have never been attacked by Russia," Ulyanov said. "IAEA experts have only heard or seen drones flying past the facilities at a considerable distance. They did not strike the plants. Nevertheless, air raid and missile alerts are regularly declared at the nuclear power plants even though there are no grounds for them, and IAEA experts are theatrically taken to bomb shelters."
Ulyanov stressed that the resolution was adopted with the support of only one-third of the IAEA's total membership. According to him, it was backed mainly by European countries and their satellites, while the United States chose to abstain and Russia, China and Iran voted against.
