New York court refuses to hold new process in Russian pilot Yaroshenko’s case — lawyer

Yaroshenko was charged with conspiracy for airlifting a batch of cocaine to Latin America, part of which was addressed to the United States

NEW YORK, May 22. /TASS/. A court in New York has refused to hold a new process in the case of Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko who was sentenced to prison for alleged intent to smuggle drugs, Yroshenko’s lawyer Alexey Tarasov told TASS on Friday.

"The court has made a decision, the decision is negative," Tarasov said. "I think that it is unjust and absolutely biased," he added.

The Russian pilot was detained by the Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in Liberia on June 2, 2010. He was charged with conspiracy for airlifting a batch of cocaine to Latin America, part of which was addressed to the United States.

US investigators claimed that Yaroshenko had been involved in transporting cocaine to South America, Africa and Europe mostly from Liberia and Venezuela.
