Belarusian foreign ministry condemns NATO’s new ‘Theory of Victory’ plan

Belarusian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ruslan Varankov highlighted that under the guise of defensive language, the Alliance is effectively laying the groundwork for military escalation and aggression

MINSK, October 14. /TASS/. Belarus strongly condemns NATO’s new plan, headlined ‘Theory of Victrory,’ which envisages pre-emptive strikes on the territory of the republic, Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, Ruslan Varankov, said in a statement.

"The Republic of Belarus strongly condemns the statements made by General Alexus Grynkewich, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, who presented the so-called ‘Theory of Victory’. This concept envisages pre-emptive strikes against the territory of Belarus using drones and ground-based robotic systems," the spokesman said in a statement.

"The North Atlantic Alliance's aggressive rhetoric is becoming increasingly systematic. In the absence of any threats from Belarus or any real preconditions for conflict, NATO is drawing up plans to increase its military presence near Belarusian borders and launch strikes against the territory of a sovereign state," he continued.

Varankov went on to say that under the guise of defensive language, the Alliance is effectively laying the groundwork for military escalation and aggression.

"Belarus has never threatened anyone. Our military doctrine is strictly defensive in nature," the Belarusian diplomat added. "We consistently advocate openness, de-escalation and dialogue on an equal footing. We call on our Western counterparts to exercise sound judgement and engage in joint efforts to restore mutual trust.".
