US should not have eliminated Iran’s leadership — Trump

The US leader noted that Washington had no idea who was he dealing with at present

WASHINGTON, October 13. /TASS/. The United States might have overdone it in Iran by eliminating its leadership because now Washington cannot understand who it is dealing with, President Donald Trump said.

"They got no leadership and that’s the problem. We might have gone too far with the leadership, we don’t know who the hell we are dealing with," he told Republican supporters in Ohio, as broadcast by CNN.

The United States and Israel started a war with Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed large-scale strikes against Iran, accusing it of violating the agreements on the Strait of Hormuz. About 25% of the world’s oil trade and about 20% of liquefied natural gas are transported through it. Subsequently, the US administration effectively signaled a shift away from the use of large·scale military force against Iran and towards an attempt to economically strangle it through sanctions.
