If Iran rejects deal with US, its oil infrastructure will be destroyed — Trump

According to the president, the US is trying to reach an agreement with Iran’s new leadership

WASHINGTON, April 2. /TASS/. The US is ready to destroy Iran’s power plants and oil infrastructure if Tehran refuses to strike a deal with Washington, President Donald Trump stated.

He noted that the US is attempting to reach an agreement with Iran’s new leadership. "The new group [of Iranian leaders] is less radical and much more reasonable. Yet, if during this period of time, no deal is made, we have our eyes on key targets. If there is no deal, we are going to hit each and every one of their electric generating plants, very hard and probably simultaneously," the US leader said during a televised address to the nation.

"We have not hit their oil, even though that's the easiest target of all, because it would not give them even a small chance of survival or rebuilding, but we could hit it and it would be gone, and there's not a thing they could do about it," Trump emphasized.

The United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were struck. The White House justified the attack by citing alleged missile and nuclear threats from Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a retaliatory operation, targeting sites in Israel. US military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were also hit. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and some other key Iranian leaders were killed in the joint US-Israeli attack.
