Trump counts on resolving Ukrainian conflict soon

"We're going to hopefully get that one done at some point in the not too distant future," the president said

WASHINGTON, February 5. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump expects the conflict in Ukraine to be resolved in the near future, he told reporters in the run-up to his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House.

"We're also dealing, I think, very successfully, with Russia, Ukraine. We're going to hopefully get that one done at some point in the not too distant future. That's a complex problem also, but we solve problems," Trump said, without giving any further details.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump said: "We're also working very hard with respect to Russia, Ukraine. <…> And I think we've had some very good talks." He did not specify what kind of talks he was talking about.

On June 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin set forth the conditions for resolving the situation in Ukraine, which included Ukraine withdrawing troops from Donbass and Novorossia and abandoning plans to join NATO. In addition, Moscow insists that all Western sanctions be lifted and Ukraine’s non-bloc and non-nuclear status be guaranteed. Kiev rejected this peace plan and following Ukraine’s incursion into Russia’s borderline Kursk Region on August 6, the Russian leader said that there is no sense in talks with the government that is attacking civilians.
