WASHINGTON, November 13. /TASS/. EU countries are slowly but surely coming to terms with the fact that the Ukrainian conflict can only end with negotiations and territorial concessions from Kiev, The Washington Post reported, citing Western officials.
According to their information, Kiev’s allies are warming up to the idea of Ukraine making territorial concessions. The diplomats see this approach as "land in exchange for Ukraine’s security."
Meanwhile, they note that such peace talks could come sooner rather than later.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow is ready for peace talks on Ukraine, but they should be based on current realities, not on Kiev’s "wishful thinking." The president underscored that the negotiations should be based on the agreements reached in Istanbul, but they must also take the current situation into account.
Russian and Ukrainian delegations met in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. The principles of their preliminary agreement included Ukraine’s commitment to a neutral and unaligned status, and its promise not to deploy foreign-made weapons, including nuclear ones, on its territory.
