Rally against discrimination of Russians held in Milan

ROME, June 24. /TASS/. A rally against discrimination of Russians and the Italian government’s attitude to the conflict in Ukraine was held in Milan on Thursday night.

Amedeo Avondet, a Turin student and the author of the United Italy project, told TASS more than 200 people gathered outside the Teatro alla Scala opera house in Milan, many of them were carrying Russian flags.

Avondet drew attention to the impact of anti-Russian sanctions on the Italilan economy, including their role in the growing food and gasoline prices. This situation was, in part, due to the Italian government’s readiness "to obey NATO directions from Brussels," he said.

In turn, a coordinator of the "Italy Again - for Democratic Sovereignty" political union, Luciano Tovaglieri, said that many Russian musicians and athletes were barred from competitions recently.

"Our manifestation is a show of solidarity with the people who were discriminated in recent months just because of their nationality. It’s a shame," he said.
