SAMARKAND, November 6. /TASS/. International terrorist organizations have been actively using online platforms to identify targets, recruit new members and indoctrinate them ideologically, said Mikhail Maksimovich, deputy director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
"According to the SVR’s information, the most advanced users of digital technology in the SCO area are international terrorist organizations, such as the Islamic State, mostly its Vilayat Khorasan branch in Afghanistan, and Al-Qaeda (both banned in Russia). They have been active users of online platforms for targets, new members and their ideological indoctrination," he said at the first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Plus Expert Dialogue on Security.
Using AI-generated content, they create posts in national languages, targeting specific ethnic groups, he noted. "Those contain texts, audio and video files with instructions on how to use firearms, improvised explosive devices, and UAVs laden with homemade explosives," he added.
