Interaction with Iran vital for Russian national security — top security official

Nikolay Patrushev also thanked Raisi for his hospitality and described the results of Russian-Iranian consultations on security also held in Tehran on Wednesday

MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Russia views strategic interaction with Iran as an important element in ensuring its national security, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev said at a meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday.

"We consider strategic interaction with Tehran as an essential element of ensuring national security," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted him as saying.

The Russian top security official also thanked Raisi for his hospitality and described the results of Russian-Iranian consultations on security also held in Tehran on Wednesday. "Today, we held constructive bilateral consultations with Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani," he said.

During the consultations, Patrushev noted that "the world is at a turning point." "The so-called US hegemony is receding into the past.
