MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Preparations for the Ukraine’s accession to the European Union will take as much time as the dissolution of the EU will take, Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in her Telegram channel.

"European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi told the Welt am Sonntag newspaper that preparations for the Ukraine’s accession to the European Union ‘will take years.’ Probably, so much time as it will take for the EU’s dissolution," Zakharova said.

Heads of EU states and governments approved provision of the candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova at the summit in Brussels on June 23. The countries need to meet certain conditions, including reforms, to start negotiations on the accession.
