Chechen leader Kadyrov says Severodonetsk cleared of Ukrainian nationalists

Chechen military units and the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic have completed an operation to clear the city of Severodonetsk of Ukrainian nationalists, Kadyrov said

MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/. Chechen military units and the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic have completed an operation to clear the city of Severodonetsk of Ukrainian nationalists, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said in his Telegram channel on Tuesday.

"Fighters from the Chechen republic, jointly with the LPR People’s Militia and Russian military units, have completed a mopping-up operation in Severodonetsk. The fighters have launched the next stage - thorough checks of selected urban locations," Kadyrov said.

In his words, the city office of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) and the adjacent territory are under their full control. A bomb squad is working in the area to remove improvised explosive devices planted there.

In a video address, released via Telegram, Kadyrov rejected media reports that only 20-30% of Severodonetsk have been liberated so far.

"The residential sector is under full control of our fighters. Some ‘shaitans’ are still active in the industrial zone, there was a huge blast there, and we are checking out what’s next," he added.
