MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. Any further easing of sanctions against the Russian fuel and energy sector will depend on the current market situation and the state of relations, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week.
"We cannot predict things in advance. It will all depend on the current market situation and relations [with the US - TASS]," he said.
On October 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation, during which they discussed, among other topics, the supply of petroleum products. The Russian leader stated that Moscow had confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the US and global markets. According to Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Russia is beginning to lift its ban on diesel fuel exports ahead of schedule; it is prepared to supply 300,000 tonnes of diesel in October, 500,000 tonnes in November, and 1 million tonnes in December, with the aim of eventually increasing this volume to 3 million tonnes per month. Meanwhile, the US administration is exempting shipments of Russian diesel fuel to global markets from US sanctions until April 7, 2027.
