World Bank successfully interacts with BRICS Bank, AIIB — Executive Director

The bank's priority is to eradicate poverty on a livable planet, Executive Director of the World Bank Neelkanth Mishra stressed

BANGKOK, October 13. /TASS/. The World Bank is expanding cooperation with other multilateral financial institutions and is successfully interacting at the operational level with the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Executive Director of the World Bank Neelkanth Mishra told TASS on the sidelines of the fall session of IMF and World Bank governing bodies.

"We already have very deep engagement with ADB and with the European Investment Bank. But with the others like, say, NDB and AIIB, I think at the operational level, we collaborate well and we engage very well," Mishra said.

"The World Bank's priority is to eradicate poverty on a livable planet. And one of the key changes in the last four, five years has been greater collaboration with other multilateral banks," he noted.

An expert report was prepared during the Indian presidency in the Group of Twenty, where one of key recommendations "was greater collaboration between the multilateral banks," the executive director added.
