Avtovaz resumes car production — company

MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. Avtovaz has resumed car production for the first time since later April, the Russian carmaker says on Wednesday.

"Avtovaz restarts car production on June 8, 2022. First Lada Granta Classic cars of the 2022 model year left the conveyor. The Lada Granta with presented specifications will be the most affordable new car on the Russian market. The model was developed for the purpose of providing as much vehicle localization as possible, excluding the effect of imported components’ shortage," the car producer said.

The holding has not yet informed about the price of new cars.

The car producer is intensively interacting with domestic suppliers for operations development, President of Avtovaz Maxim Sokolov said in a comment.

"Avtovaz has resumed the car output today, after a lengthy pause. Supporting the employment of the plant team is one of top-priority tasks for us. Certainly, we should continue production of cars enjoying the highest demand and also affordable for the Russian market, which will not be affected by the shortage of imported components," the top manager added.
