Moscow’s missile defense provides protection from any current, future missiles

The system is capable of intercepting all types of warheads with a degree of probability close to one, Major-General Sergey Grabchuk said

MOSCOW, January 22. /TASS/. Moscow’s missile defense is capable of providing protection from any types of warheads with a degree of probability close to 100%, the commander of a missile defense division of Russia’s Aerospace Force, Major-General Sergey Grabchuk, told the daily Krasnaya Zvezda in an interview.

"In peacetime the missile defense is commissioned to identify ballistic missile launches and space rocket launches and to track space objects. In wartime, it is responsible for automatically eliminating the enemy missiles’ warheads capable of hitting Moscow. The system is capable of intercepting all types of warheads with a degree of probability close to one," Grabchuk said.

Grabchuk’s division is responsible for protecting Moscow from limited attacks by any existing and future types of inter-continental and intermediate range ballistic missiles equipped with missile defense penetration systems. Also, it provides information support for missile attack warning and space control systems," Grabchuk said.

"The division’s missile defense system is a unique complex of geographically dispersed information centers, radars and missile launchers operating jointly in the automatic real time mode," Grabchuk said.
