Cuban president accuses US of waging relentless war against republic

Washington is seeking to deprive the country of the ability to meet the fundamental needs of its people, Miguel Diaz-Canel says

HAVANA, June 25. /TASS/. The US government is waging a relentless war against Cuba, seeking to deprive the country of the ability to meet the fundamental needs of its people, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said.

"US aggression against Cuba is continuing and intensifying because of their helplessness in the face of their inability to defeat us. <...> The US government is convinced that no country could function or survive amid such a merciless war," he wrote on X.

According to the Cuban leader, Washington’s actions constitute attacks on Cuba’s sources of revenues geared to cut off the republic’s access to financial channels, fuel supplies, and technologies transfers.

Diaz-Canel acknowledged that economic pressure is having a "concrete and severe impact" but emphasized that Washington "is astonished by the [Cuban people’s] ability to resist and create" under these conditions.
