Japan allows use of troops for potential mine clearance in Hormuz Strait

This option may only be considered if the ceasefire is established there, Japan Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said

TOKYO, March 22. /TASS/. The Japanese government allows a scenario where the Self-Defense Forces of the country can be used for mine clearance in the Strait of Hormuz where mines were allegedly laid by Iran, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said.

This option may only be considered if the ceasefire is established there. "If mines are an obstacle [for navigation], then the possibility [of sending military units] will have to be considered," he said on the air with Fuji TV.
