DUBAI, November 29. /TASS/. At least five Palestinians were injured when the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) raided the city of Jenin in the West Bank, the Al Jazeera television reported on Wednesday.
According to the TV channel, the Israeli army "has launched a large-scale military operation in Jenin, deploying more than 20 armored vehicles and at least four armored bulldozers in the city center."
Israeli servicemen are conducting raids and arrests in residential buildings. In some areas, they are engaged in shootouts with Palestinian resistance units. At least five Palestinians were injured during an Israeli raid of a refugee camp in the city.
Also, the Israeli military surrounded and blocked entrances to the city’s three largest hospitals. Besides, IDF servicemen prevent ambulance vehicles from responding to emergency calls.
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 200 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly.
Hamas described its attack as a response to Israeli authorities’ aggressive actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
