IAEA to strengthen its presence at all Ukrainian NPPs — Grossi

The IAEA earlier reported that it would sent missions to the Rovne, Khmelnitsky and South Ukrainian nucler power plants in the coming weeks at the request of the Ukrainian authorities

VIENNA, November 29. /TASS/. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will strengthen its presence at all Ukraine’s nuclear power plants, the agency’s Director General Rafael Grossi said on Tuesday.

"[With Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry] Kuleba, we continue working together towards the urgent establishment of a nuclear safety and security protection zone around Zaporizhzhya NPP (the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant - TASS). I also confirmed that IAEA will strengthen its presence in all NPPs to protect its energy infrastructure," Grossi wrote on his Twitter page on Tuesday.

The IAEA earlier reported that it would sent missions to the Rovne, Khmelnitsky and South Ukrainian nucler power plants in the coming weeks at the request of the Ukrainian authorities.

Last week the IAEA Director General said that the agency continued consultations with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the issue of the creation of a safety zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and reported certain developments.

The Zaporozhye NPP is Europe’s largest operating nuclear power plant. Russia took control of the facility during its special operation in late February.
