More than 14,000 Ukrainian troops underwent training abroad - Ukraine’s General Staff

Alexey Gromov also said that military training grounds of Kiev’s partner countries are being used to train units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

KIEV, November 24. /TASS/. More than 14,000 Ukrainian troops have undergone training in foreign countries and 3,000 more remain in training abroad, Brigadier General Alexey Gromov, deputy head of Main Operations Department at the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said on Thursday.

"As for the training of our servicemen abroad: To date, 6,700 servicemen of the armed forces of Ukraine have already been trained abroad in the operation of weapons and military equipment alone, and another 300 servicemen are currently being trained. With regards to basic military training: To date, 7,600 military personnel have been trained and 2,900 troops are continuing to be trained," he said at a news conference.

He also said that military training grounds of Kiev’s partner countries are being used to train units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On February 24 Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbass republics. The West subsequently imposed sweeping sanctions on Russia and stepped up the shipment of weapons to Kiev, which are worth billions of dollars.
