Pakistani ex-PM Imran Khan injured in shooting at political march — report

MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was wounded in a leg during a shooting at a political march in the city of Gujranwala Thursday, Geo TV reported citing the police.

According to the report, several more members of Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf political movement were injured in the shooting. The suspect has been detained.

Khan’s current condition is not disclosed.

The current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident, the Pakistani government tweeted Thursday. The Prime Minister ordered the Minister of the Interior to request a report from the regional police and administration about the incident.

The march of opposition supporters started on October 28 in the capital of the Punjab Province capital city of Lahore. On Thursday, the protesters, led by Khan, marched the streets of Gujranwala.

Khan left the Prime Minister’s office in April 2022, after the lower house of the Parliament held a vote of no confidence. Since May this year, Khan’s party campaigns to come back into power in the Islamic republic.
