Runet sees 103 million daily users, says Kremlin

Tatyana Matveeva added that the Runet space currently provides a conducive environment for communication, growth and pursuit of goals

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Daily traffic on Runet now stands at 103 mln people, Head of the Office of the Russian President for the development of ICT and communications infrastructure Tatyana Matveeva reported.

"Now the number of daily Runet users is 103 mln people. If we compare this, for example, with 2004, the user base has grown by a factor of 19," she said at the 14th Russian Internet Governance Forum.

According to preliminary estimates from Rosstat, the population of Russia as of January 1, 2024 was 146.2 mln people.

She added that the Runet space currently provides a conducive environment for communication, growth and pursuit of goals.

Matveeva also noted that the economy of the Russian segment of internet in 2023 amounted to 15.4 trillion rubles ($165.9 bln), and, in particular, the digital content segment - 119.7 billion rubles ($1.3 bln) which is 28% more than in 2022.

The 14th Russian Internet Governance Forum is taking place on April 9-10 in Moscow. TASS is the general information partner of the forum.
