Murmansk regional governor airlifted to central hospital

On April 4, Andrey Chibis was stabbed in the stomach in the city of Apatity following a meeting with local residents

MURMANSK, April 5. /TASS/. Andrey Chibis, governor of Russia’s northern Murmansk Region, has arrived at the central regional hospital, a TASS correspondent reported.

The regional crisis center said that the governor’s condition was stable upon arrival and Chibis is currently in intensive care.

Earlier, his press secretary Lilia Sechkina said that he was being medevaced from Kirovsk to Murmansk. Dmitry Panychev, head of the regional Health Ministry, said that the governor will be transferred to the central regional hospital for further treatment. The governor remains in serious but stable condition and is receiving the necessary treatment.

On April 4, Chibis was stabbed in the stomach in the city of Apatity following a meeting with local residents. His attacker was detained on the spot. Attempted murder charges were filed.
