Russian pharmacies have enough Viagra equivalents to offer — Health Ministry

There are many analogues of this drug with the same active ingredient sildenafil on the market, including domestically produced ones, the ministry stressed

MOSCOW, February 15. /TASS/. The Russian pharmaceutical market has generic equivalents of the American drug Viagra in sufficient quantities, including those produced by domestic pharmaceutical companies, the Health Ministry’s press service told TASS.

"There are many analogues of this drug with the same active ingredient sildenafil on the market, including domestically produced ones. They are widely available in the pharmacy network," the report says.

The press service reminded these are prescription drugs and one should take them only after consulting a doctor.

Earlier, the American pharmaceutical company Viatris informed Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry that it was suspending supplies of the drug Viagra in its pill form to Russia, the ministry’s press service told TASS.

Currently, Russia has the technological capability to manufacture drugs with INN sildenafil from various stages, including the full cycle, including the synthesis of the pharmaceutical substance (8 out of 36 companies).

According to the state register of medicines, 36 companies in Russia have 49 registration certificates for drugs with the specified INN.
