Hainan cinemas rake in $8 mln plus during Lunar New Year holiday week

There were more than 26,700 screenings from February 1 to 6

HAIKOU, February 8. /TASS/. Hainan's box office revenues surpassed 52.06 million yuan (about $8.2 million) during Lunar New Year holiday week, the Hainan International Communication Network (HICN) reported.

According to the data, more than 26.7 thousand screenings were held from February 1 to 6, and the total number of visitors reached 1.03 million. Meanwhile, China's box office exceeded 6.03 billion yuan (more than $ 949 million) during the holiday week.

The most popular movies were the war drama The Battle At Lake Changjin II (2022), and the comedies Too Cool To Kill (2022) and Nice View (2022).

This year, the new year on the lunar calendar is February 1, therefore, China had a national holiday from January 31 to February 6.
