The West sees ‘anti-Russia’ project in Ukraine is dead end — Russian MFA

Maria Zakharova drew attention to reports suggesting that, by 2027, non-EU countries will have reduced their financial assistance to Ukraine nearly fivefold

MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Western countries have realized that the anti-Russia project in Ukraine has reached a dead end and are therefore scaling back their financial support for the Kiev regime, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a news briefing.

She drew attention to reports suggesting that, by 2027, non-EU countries will have reduced their financial assistance to Ukraine nearly fivefold.

"Is this because the Kiev regime has scored spectacular victories or achieved remarkable successes on the battlefield? Certainly not. Quite the opposite. So why, then, is funding for the Kiev regime being cut? Because the West fully understands that this entire undertaking, initially promoted with such fanfare, has reached a dead end. Yet Western countries are unwilling to openly admit that their ‘anti-Russia’ project in Ukraine has failed," Zakharova said.

Earlier, the British newspaper The Financial Times, citing a European Commission forecast, reported that Ukraine’s allies outside the European Union had pledged to provide in 2027 just one-fifth of the financial assistance they are contributing this year.

According to the newspaper, Kiev’s non-EU partners have committed only €4 billion for next year, compared with €19 billion this year.

Against this backdrop, European Commission officials are exploring alternative ways to finance Ukraine, including the joint issuance of debt securities. Brussels is also urging Britain, Japan, Canada and other countries to mobilize additional funds to cover Ukraine’s financial needs.
