Diesel deal, no pausing special military operation: Lavrov’s comment

According to the Russian top diplomat, Zelensky’s reaction to the "diesel deal" is a direct challenge to the US leader

BAKU, October 15. /TASS/. Russia has supported "the diesel deal" proposed by US President Donald Trump, while Vladimir Zelensky continues to request weapons to strike Russia’s energy infrastructure, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov pointed out in a conversation with journalists after a summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence·Building Measures in Asia.

He also emphasized that Russia will not suspend the special military operation.

TASS has compiled the key statements made by the head of the Foreign Ministry.

'Diesel deal'

Russia has supported Trump's "diesel deal," while Zelensky continues to request weapons to carry out strikes against Russian energy infrastructure: "Regarding the diesel deal - this deal was proposed, and we supported it, but Mr. Zelensky has already stated on more than one occasion publicly: ‘Don’t bother me with this diesel deal; give me missiles for the Patriot system instead. I need to keep hitting the Russian energy sector, including oil refineries."

Zelensky’s reaction to the "diesel deal" is a direct challenge to Trump. "This is a direct and, moreover, crude challenge directed at President Trump, who actively supported this deal and has publicly stated so on more than one occasion."

"In my view, everyone already understands this and fully realizes that such behavior has become typical of Mr. Zelensky, who believes that the whole world owes him something, while he owes no one anything in return, and he is not prepared to take any constructive actions that would truly be fair and equitable."

'Peace plan' for Ukraine

Russia has not received any official proposals on "a peace plan" for Ukraine: "We certainly read these references - the Washington Post, the New York Times, other outlets, references to sources - because this is widely disseminated now. But we have not received any official proposals. The Western press, in principle, is a leak factory."

Zelensky’s statements about elections in Ukraine

Russia sees in Zelensky's actions that he doesn't really want to hold elections: "Mr. Zelensky has already made it clear that he is not interested in elections, because he has set conditions that are inherently unacceptable."

"There will be no ceasefire so that he [Zelensky] can be brought to his senses again and pumped full of weapons."

Goals of the special military operation

The goals of the special military operation are clear and consistent, unlike the West’s position on the Ukrainian crisis, which is constantly changing: "We proceed from the premise that the goals of the special military operation have been defined, unlike the West’s position on the Ukrainian crisis, which changes regularly by 180 degrees, or, as [former German Foreign Minister] Annalena Baerbock once said, by 360. Our position has never changed."

Cooperation with Armenia and Azerbaijan

Russia has not received any requests from Armenia and Azerbaijan to participate in the "Trump Route" project: "So far, we have not received any requests regarding participation in this project, the transport route named after Donald Trump. But all interested parties are aware of our readiness and our capabilities.".

Russia believes that the next meeting in the "3+3" format (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Russia, Turkey, and Iran) could be held in Azerbaijan: "We have met several times, and now we are waiting for Armenia and Azerbaijan to agree on who will host the next meeting of the foreign ministers of this group. I believe that we can hold the next meeting in Azerbaijan, and then the following one in Yerevan. That would be the right approach."

Transformation of the international relations system

The system of international relations "is undergoing a stage of fundamental changes: We are witnessing the formation of a new, more just multipolar world order."

The countries of Eurasia need a stable and predictable political and economic environment: "A clear signal is coming from the Greater Eurasian space: the countries need joint positive development, equal and indivisible security for all, where the security of one state cannot be ensured at the expense of the security of others."

CICA

The summit declaration of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence·Building Measures in Asia (CICA) condemns unlawful sanctions, and this position "applies, among other things, to the issue of maritime piracy.".
