Russia not seeking split between US, Europe over Ukraine conflict — Kremlin spokesman

Dmitry Peskov said Moscow is looking for effective measures and responsible solutions that will provide for a peaceful settlement

MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. Russia is not seeking a split between the United States and Europe over the Ukraine conflict but a solution that could pave the way for a peaceful settlement, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"We aren’t seeking a split here but we are looking for really effective measures and responsible solutions that will enable us to reach a peaceful settlement," he said when asked whether Moscow believed US President Donald Trump’s position on a peaceful solution to the Ukraine issue would lead to a split between the US and Europe.

US President Donald Trump said earlier that it was time for Ukraine "to get a new president." "I suggest they get a new leader who can make a deal," because Zelensky "could have made many deals that, for some reason, he never does," the US president noted.

Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen assured Zelensky of the European Union’s support following Trump’s statements and added that the EU would allocate funds to purchase more projectiles and drones for Kiev.
