Ukrainian units in Kherson using civilians as human shields, says advisor

Alexander Malkevich stressed that in fact the Kiev regime’s troops are using the "Mariupol strategy" in Kherson

GENICHESK, November 22. /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces are hiding their units in residential buildings, using civilians as cover, Alexander Malkevich, a member of the Russian Civic Chamber and advisor to the acting governor of the Kherson Region, told TASS on Tuesday.

"Comprehending their strategic vulnerability in an urban atmosphere, Ukrainian units are now using underhanded methods of warfare. That is, they conceal their troops, primarily artillery units, in residential areas, in the courtyards of houses, and next to apartment buildings," he specified.

Malkevich stressed that in fact the Kiev regime’s troops are using the "Mariupol strategy" in Kherson, namely, they are using civilians as human shields.

On November 9, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu ordered the pullback of Russian forces from the right bank of Dnieper under the proposal of Sergey Surovikin, commander of the joint group of forces in the special military operation zone. The top military official underscored that Russian forces have been successfully repelling Ukrainian attacks, and the decision to move the forces out was due to the threat of the group getting isolated because of potential flooding of the territory below the Kakhovka hydropower plant dam. According to Surovikin, all civilians who expressed their desire to evacuate, which is over 115,000 people, have been relocated to the left bank.
