West using double standard on issue of women’s rights — Russian diplomat

It seems that colleagues are much less concerned about the rights of women and girls in the Idlib enclave than in Afghanistan, Dmitry Chumakov said

UNITED NATIONS, September 16. /TASS/. The West is using double standards on the issue of women’s rights in Syria’s Idlib and Afghanistan, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Chumakov said on Wednesday.

"It seems that our colleagues are much less concerned about the rights of women and girls in the Idlib enclave than in Afghanistan. Double standards again," he said at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

"The Western members of the [UN Security] Council, as far as we can see, are showing lax attitude and are in no hurry to exert pressure on the terrorist groups in Idlid they control <…>," he said. "Terrorists in Idlib are even excused for the fact that <…> the number of early and child marriages in the enclave is on the rise.".
