MOSCOW, July 14. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin "is not endorsing" the choice of Ukrainian people yet is simply stating the contradictions between Kiev’s promises and actions, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Wednesday.
A day earlier, Putin noted that as of the present day, the decisions by Kiev demonstrated the choice of current Ukrainian authorities and not of the people of this country.
"The [Russian] president is not endorsing the choice of the Ukrainian people. In his article, he says that, unfortunately, the Ukrainian leadership comes to power with certain slogans, with certain promises, with certain goals. And then in reality a completely different line is being followed," the Kremlin representative explained.
The spokesman also pointed out the Russian leader’s assertion that in many aspects Ukraine "was yielded to be governed by external forces". "This is indeed the case," the Kremlin representative thinks. "We see how judges in Ukraine are in fact being appointed from the outside - and so on. What else can it be if not external governing," he added.
This is precisely what Putin meant answering questions about his article on the Russian-Ukrainian subject, the spokesman explained. "And the choice of the Ukrainian people is the choice of the Ukrainian people. The Ukrainian people vote for politicians that come to elections with certain slogans, promises. The [Russian] president also mentioned this in his article," he concluded.
