Press officer killed in Ukraine’s attack on journalists near Kremennaya

Yevgeny Polovodov was assisting journalists working on the frontline, the Vesti Lugansk telegram channel reported

LUGANSK, April 11. /TASS/. A senior officer at Russian battlegroup West’s press center, Yevgeny Polovodov, was killed when Ukrainian troops shelled a camera crew of Russia’s VGTRK broadcaster near Kremennaya, the Vesti Lugansk telegram channel reported.

"We convey our condolences to the family of late Yevgeny Polovodov," the channel said in a statement.

Yevgeny Polovodov was assisting journalists working on the frontline. He also recorded video footage and made on-the-spot reports from the frontline himself.

He is survived by a mother, a wife and a child.

According to earlier reports, a camera crew of the Lugansk branch of the Russian TV broadcaster VGTRK came under fire from the Ukrainian armed forces while filming a TV report near the town of Kremennaya in the Lugansk People's Republic. Three artillery shells were fired towards journalists. As a result, a cameraman was wounded in the leg and a correspondent suffered a concussion. They received the required medical assistance.
