Russia not to introduce restrictions on import of medicines — minister

Russian Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova says there won’t be restrictions for Russians, health is the priority

YALTA, May 24. /TASS/. Russia will not impose restrictions on purchases of foreign medicines for its citizens, Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova.

"We certainly need to focus on production, self-sufficiency in pharmacological and pharmaceutical sectors. But at the same time, if there are any effective drugs, we do not have, it does not mean that we won’t buy them," she said.

According to her, Russia will import such medicines and at the same take efforts to establish their domestic production.

"That is why there won’t be restrictions for Russians, health is the priority," she said.
