BERLIN, November 14. /TASS/. Costs for German farmers soared by almost 40% in September in annual terms, the Federal Statistical Office reported on Monday.

Costs for producers of agricultural goods increased by 2.5% in September month-on-month, and by 39.4% year-on-year, according to the report. Meanwhile, the year-on-year increase totaled 26% in the segment of crop farming, and 49.1% in the segment of animal farming.

The crisis on the global grain market is regarded as the main reason for the soaring costs faced by farmers, the statistical office said, adding that the price of grain feed climbed by 41% in the country in September in annual terms.
