MINSK, June 21. /TASS/. The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has proved its effectiveness, the citizens of its member states can feel the benefits from the integration, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on Tuesday.
"In a short time, the Eurasian Economic Union has proved its effectiveness and relevance, the ability to respond in a timely manner to various challenges and various risks. <...> The most important thing is that the citizens of our countries feel the benefits of integration work in everyday life," Mishustin said.
The Russian Prime Minister recalled that in May it was 8 years since the signing of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. He stressed that the term for an international organization is short, but a lot of work has been done during this time. Speaking about the effectiveness of this structure, Mishustin recalled that trade within the union is constantly growing and outpaces trade with other states in terms of growth. The head of the Russian government also noted good results in other key areas of cooperation, in particular, in industry, finance, and agriculture.
Mishustin stressed the importance of ensuring the further progressive development of Eurasian integration to jointly overcome the consequences of the instability of the international economic system in the new difficult geopolitical reality.
Member-states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
