Aerospace Forces get world’s heaviest serial transport helicopter Mi-26T2V — official

MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. The Army Aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces has received a number of new helicopters this year, including the world’s heaviest serially produced helicopter, Mi-26T2V, the commander of the Russian Army Aviation Igor Romanov has said.

"The army aviation’s fleet is annually updated to include new and modernized aircraft," he told the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper. "This year, we have already received and continue to receive Ka-52M, Mi-28NM, Mi-8AMTSh, Mi-8MTV-5M and Mi-26T2V helicopters."

He said the new aircraft were being delivered in accordance with the schedule. "There have been no delays or disruptions," he added.

The Mi-26T2V is a heavy large-fuselage military transport helicopter with a lifting capacity of 20 tons. The rotorcraft is outfitted with an integrated NPK90-2V avionics suite that provides for its operation day and night to fly in an automatic control mode, reach a preset point and perform approach maneuvers. The defensive aids suite shields the Mi-26T2V from air defense missile systems. The upgraded helicopter has a crew of five.

The upgraded Mi-26T2V helicopter performed its debut flight in August 2018. Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said in March 2019 that the ministry would buy 10 of the helicopters.
