MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. Ukraine spent $450 mln on servicing and repaying debt in September 2026, according to a statement on the National Bank of Ukraine’s website.
"A total of $195.7 mln was paid to service and repay government debt in foreign currency, including $72.3 mln to service and repay debt to the World Bank; $8.3 mln to service foreign currency-denominated domestic government bonds; and $115.1 mln in payments to other creditors. In addition, Ukraine paid $254.3 mln to the IMF," the statement said.
Ukraine’s total state and state-guaranteed debt stood at 9.603 trillion hryvnias, or $215.55 bln, as of August 31.
According to TASS calculations, each Ukrainian citizen owes $8,622, based on a population of 25 mln and state debt of $215.55 bln. If a population of 22 mln is used instead, state debt amounts to nearly $9,800 per person. No precise statistics on Ukraine’s current population are available, although Ukrainian Social Policy Minister Denis Ulyutin previously put the figure at 22-25 mln people.
