YEKATERINBURG, September 18. /TASS/. People in European countries see falsehoods in Western media coverage of Russia and do not trust these outlets, while expressions of support for Russia are only increasing amid censorship and misinformation, Pierre de Gaulle, grandson of French President General Charles de Gaulle (1959-1969) and head of the Foundation for Peace and Friendship Among Peoples, told TASS.

"More and more messages [are coming in] in support of Russia. Because people no longer believe the mainstream media and understand perfectly well that they are being lied to," he said in an interview at the TASS stand at the International Festival of Youth.

As an example, he cited statements by Western politicians about Russia’s isolation from the rest of the world, saying these claims are contradicted by footage of Russian President Vladimir Putin attending the BRICS summit in India and the Victory Day parade in Moscow, which brought together leaders of 40 countries.

The International Festival of Youth was held in Yekaterinburg from September 11 to 17. The event was expected to bring together 10,000 young leaders from 191 countries: 5,000 from Russia and 5,000 from other countries. The program also included 1,000 teenagers aged 14 to 17. TASS was the event’s general information partner.
