WASHINGTON, January 14. /TASS/. The US administration has limited military options to deploy against Iran, Politico reports, citing sources.

According to the media outlet, "the US troops and ships that were once at the president’s disposal have shifted to the Caribbean." US "administration officials say there are no plans for the movement of major assets."

"The president can still order airstrikes that target Iranian leadership or military installations. But his choices are even more reduced than June, when the US took out Iran’s nuclear sites. And he also must contend with lawmakers," Politico points out.

On December 29, 2025, merchants began protesting in Tehran over a sharp decline in the value of the Iranian rial. On December 30, university students joined the unrest, which engulfed the majority of major cities. The authorities also announced the death of 38 law enforcement officers.
