White House press secretary slams Democrats for trying to sow chaos

According to Karoline Leavitt, Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg is "an anti-Trump hater."

WASHINGTON, March 27. /TASS/. The US Democratic party seeks to sow chaos in US President Donald Trump’s administration, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, commenting on the current scandal over a Signal group chat.

"They [Democrats] are focused on a coordinated campaign to try and sow chaos in this White House, and this has been the most successful first two months of any administration ever, which is exactly why they are doing this. We are not going to bend in the face of this insincere outrage," Leavitt pointed out at a briefing.

According to her, Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg is "an anti-Trump hater." "He is a registered Democrat. Goldberg's wife is also a registered Democrat and a big Democrat donor," Leavitt noted.

Signal scandal

On March 24, Goldberg said in a story he published that he had got a request to join Signal, an encrypted messaging app, from a "Mike Waltz" on March 11. He was then included in a group chat dubbed "Houthi PC small group" with what appeared to be other top administration officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Vice President JD Vance.

For several days, "a fascinating policy discussion" was conducted in the chat, the story says. According to the editor, on March 15, user "Pete Hegseth" posted a message that contained details of planned strikes against the Houthis, including targets, weapons, and the estimated time of the start of the strikes, which, according to Goldberg, coincided with the time of publication of the first messages about the bombing on social networks.

Goldberg said that Brian Hughes, spokesman for the National Security Council, confirmed the veracity of the Signal group.

On March 26, Goldberg published screenshots of all messages from the chat room. Meanwhile, the US authorities said that no military plans or details of military operations had been shared in the chat.

The US Democratic Party took the Signal group chat leak as a major failure by the Trump administration.

On March 15, the US started to carry out massive strikes on Houthi facilities in Yemen based on an order from Trump. The US Central Command said that the goal was to defend American interests and restore freedom of navigation.
