BUDAPEST, March 20. /TASS/. Hungary is interested in ending the conflict in Ukraine because it wants to resume normal trade relations with Russia, disrupted by the EU sanctions, and regain access to its vast market, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.
Speaking to journalists in Brussels after a meeting of the leaders of parties that formed the Patriots for Europe faction in the European parliament, he explained why his country wants peace in Ukraine. "First, Christian reasons, because we are losing thousands of lives every day, which runs counter to our values. Second, due to economic reasons, because the war is very costly. Due to the war, energy prices have grown, bond rates have grown, and we have lost many opportunities for exports to Russia," he said.
