MOSCOW, December 3. /TASS/. Poland may consider the possibility of building the third nuclear power plant (NPP) on its territory, the Dziennik Gazeta Prawna newspaper reported, citing sources.
According to the sources, the Polish Industry Ministry will present an updated program for the development of nuclear energy before the end of this year. According to it, the ministry plans to analyze the possibility of building another NPP, the third one.
The document will also include a schedule of work on the construction of the first NPP in Poland on the Baltic Sea coast, which should start in 2028. In 2025, the authorities of the republic should begin to select a contractor for the second NPP. American Westinghouse, French EDF and South Korean KHNP are named among potential partners.
In November 2022, the Polish government approved a resolution on the construction of the first NPP in the republic. Three reactors are to be launched on the Baltic Sea coast in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The plant’s construction will cost about $20 billion.
