Bolivian president says rapprochement with BRICS key achievement of his foreign policy

Luis Arce noted the importance of the status obtained by Bolivia in the context of the world’s move toward multipolarity

BUENOS AIRES, November 9. /TASS/. Bolivian President Luis Arce has called the award of the BRICS partner country status to Bolivia the key achievement of his foreign policy.

"Thanks to our diplomacy we have achieved important results, which are reflected in two milestones in the history of our country. First, on October 24, Bolivia joined BRICS as a partner country. This is undoubtedly the key achievement of our foreign policy," he said in a speech on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of his inauguration.

The president noted the importance of the status obtained by Bolivia in the context of the world’s move toward multipolarity. "Our presence in the bloc is irreversible and we will gradually observe the results in the economic, financial, trade, cultural and geopolitical areas," he added.

The second milestone mentioned by Arce was Bolivia’s joining the Southern Common Market (the integration established by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) as a full-fledged member.

The Bolivian president took part in the BRICS summit held in Russia’s Kazan on October 22-24.
