Israeli army says $3 mln in cash found in Al-Shifa hospital

According to the report, the money was found by members of the Israeli army’s special units

TEL AVIV, March 21. /TASS/. During their raid on the Al-Shifa hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip, Israeli troops seized approximately $3 million in cash, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service said.

According to the report, the money was found by members of the Israeli army’s special units.

"As part of the searches at the hospital, the forces located 11 million shekels in USD and Jordanian Dinars that were earmarked for terrorism," the press service said in a statement.

In a separate development, Israeli forces inspected around 3,700 residents of Gaza moving southwards at their checkpoint near the hospital. More than 300 of them were detained on suspicion of terrorism.

"Among them are dozens of senior terrorists and those with key positions," the IDF said.

Also, the Israeli military coordinated the delivery of humanitarian aid to the area, including a fuel truck and about 1,800 liters of water and food totaling approximately 3.8 tons.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7, 2023, after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 240 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
