CAIRO, January 16. /TASS/. Iraqi authorities have denied media reports that the Mossad (Israeli intelligence) headquarters in the Iraqi city of Erbil was attacked by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, an elite unit of the Iranian military).
"We, along with investigative committee members, examined the site of the strike in Erbil and found that statements on the attack on a Mossad headquarters allegedly located there are groundless," Iraqi National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji wrote on his X (formerly known as Twitter) page. The investigation continues, he added.
Early on Tuesday, the IRGC attacked what it said were Israeli "spy headquarters" in Erbil as well as positions of anti-Iranian terrorist groups in Iraqi Kurdistan, IRNA news agency reported. According to the IRGC, the strike was carried out in response to the January 3 terrorist attack on the Iranian city of Kerman and the killing of IRGC commanders.
