WASHINGTON, November 23. /TASS/. Ukraine does not use the Abrams tanks that were shipped by the US, because of bad weather and powerful Russian defense lines, Business Insider reported. According to the interviewed analysts, the Ukrainian military are unlikely to begin using them before spring.
According to Mark Cancian, senior advisor with the Center for Strategic and International Studies, sending small groups of Abrams tanks or Bradley armored personnel carriers to the battlefield at this point would be "inefficient […] and hard to support" logistically.
Business Insider noted that the Bradley vehicles have already been used on the battlefield; however, according to the Oryx website, which analyzes open-source data, 34 out of 100 such vehicles have already been eliminated.
In September, the US announced the shipment of the first batch of Abrams tanks, promised to Kiev in the beginning of this year, to Ukraine. On November 15, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky admitted that these tanks did not play a meaningful role on the battlefield, because "their number is very small.".
