Hungarian foreign minister states 'ideal partnership' between Budapest, Rosatom, IAEA

The diplomat confirmed that construction works on the Paks-2 nuclear power plant are underway as planned

VIENNA, September 25. /TASS/. Budapest, Rosatom and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have established ‘ideal partnership’ on the implementation of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant (NPP) project, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto told TASS on the sidelines of the 67th IAEA General Conference.

"There is notable, ideal partnership between the IAEA, Hungary and Rosatom. They help us uphold top security standards," he said. The diplomat confirmed that construction works on the project are underway as planned.

Hungary has not heard the International Atomic Energy Agency criticizing cooperation with Russia, the minister said, adding that the agency "fully supports" the project.

Szijjarto plans to discuss issues of oil and gas supplies and investments in nuclear energy during the upcoming visit to Russia, he said.
