BERLIN, March 2. /TASS/. Berlin has trained more than 3,000 Ukrainian troops since the start of Russia’s special military operation and over 1,000 more service members will undergo training in the near future, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in an address to the country’s parliament on Thursday.
"The Bundeswehr has trained more than 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers since the war began. Over 1,000 troops will start training in Germany in the near future," he pointed out.
"Our country coordinates its training initiatives with the United States and the United Kingdom, becoming Europe’s center for the training of Ukrainian troops," Scholz noted.
He stressed that Germany continued to expand military assistance to Ukraine, highlighting Berlin’s decision to provide Marder infantry fighting vehicles, Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks to Kiev.
